The dynamic duo of pop-culture are back at the fringe with Just Too Much which can only be described as their best and at times silliest show to date.
Frisky (Laura Corcoran) and Mannish (Matthew Floyd Jones) first came to light in 2008 and have quickly gained a massive cult following. Even on a wet, cold Tuesday night they manage to fill the giant purple cow with an eager crowd of return visitors and F&M virgins.
Just Too Much veers away from their past shows – where we are given an educational insight into the skills of song writing and performing, instead we are greeted with the feeling that this may just be the last show the pair do – tensions are high and their ego’s just as big as the flamboyant couple struggle to work together and compress their feelings of wanting to be bigger and better than the other.
It’s a premise that works considerably well and provides Corcoran and Floyd Jones a plethora of ways to upstage the other not only in a battle of the vocals but also in wit and an array of silly stunts. I don’t think I will ever be able to hear Wrecking Ball in the same way again.
A great section involving letters sent from the moral crusader of the music world Sinead O’Connor is brilliantly executed and the jokes leading up to the end of show pay-off are a real treat. Frisky and Mannish are a fringe favourite and one only hopes that this will not be the last we see of this hilarious partnership.
