NEWS: War Horse embarks on UK tour
West End hit (and inspiration for a Hollywood film) War Horse is set to tour eight UK venues from September 2013-July 2014, it was announced today.
The play, based on a book by Michael Morpurgo, tells the tale of young Albert and his horse Joey, who is sent off to assist in the battles of World War One and uses groundbreaking puppetry to bring the horse to life (presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company). Directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it is designed by Rae Smith, lighting is by Paule Constable and movement and horse choreography by Toby Sedgwick.
National Theatre producer Chris Harper said, “We are delighted that our production of War Horse will soon be touring the UK and visiting Dublin and we are particularly thrilled that the tour opens at in Devon, where the play is set. As well as London, New York, a US tour and Australia, War Horse finally comes home.”
Still on in London – and in its fourth year – War Horse is produced on tour by the National Theatre, and tickets go on sale on 30 November 2012.
