Manchester 24:7 Festival’s call for new writing

The 24:7 Theatre Festival “Britain’s most exciting grassroots festival of new work” (Manchester Evening News) is now accepting submissions for the 2010 Festival.

These people actually care about you and your work

Matthew Landers, writer of ‘A Dog Called Redemption’ which premiered at 24:7 2008 and later won Best New Play at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards 2008

Eve Steele & Cast of Lub You - Winner of Best Fringe Performance

Flushed with success from this year’s Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, where Festival shows won both the Best Fringe Production(As We Forgive Them by Richard Vergette) and Best Fringe Performance (Eve Steele – Lub You) categories, the seventh annual 24:7 Theatre Festival is now officially open for business and accepting entries via their new online applications process.

Scripts must be original, less than 60 minutes long, never produced before, and capable of being staged in non theatre spaces.

Each script is read by a panel of adjudicators and from a shortlist of twenty plays, ten will be invited to stage full productions, five will be mentored by North West Playwrights, and five will be given rehearsed readings during festival week. The 24:7 Theatre Festival aims to showcase talent: if you are not an established writer or have never submitted work before, this will not affect your chances.

The 2010 event will run from 26th July to the 1st August 2010, at New Century House, Manchester – home of Festival sponsor, The Co-operative Group.

Submissions for scripts will be accepted from 1st December 2009 to 14th January 2010

There is a non-refundable fee of £30 for each individual submission. Feedback is provided to every writer who submits
