There is so much waste at the Edinburgh Fringe, wasted talent, wasted time and wasted paper. To not see Dracula Sex Sucking and Stardom would be the waste of a golden opportunity.
The show is laugh out loud funny, with the proud boast that if you don’t laugh the company will buy you a pint. So far they’ve not had to pay out on that promise and it is so easy to see why.
With a cast of just three men, Jack Faires, Sam Dunham and Simon Naylor, playing a whole host of different parts, the story vaguely resembles the classic tale of Dracula. Only in this version Dracula idolises John Barrowman and wants to star in a Lloyd-Webber musical. From Transylvania to Whitby we follow the tale of Jonathan Harker fleeing from a horny female vampire and trying to stop Dracula from chasing after his beloved Lucy. Help comes from the wonderful Dutch vampire slayer Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Pop songs are rewritten to fit in with the story and “Manilow Madness” is a different way for a vampire to catch his prey.
Be warned, if you are in the first two rows you will be involved and you will get very wet. No one single performer can be singled out for praise, they are all hilarious and work fabulously together in a team, feeding and ad-libbing off each other with hilarious consequences. Slapstick a plenty with references to Twilight and Jesus Christ Superstar this is a show not to be missed.
Runs until 27thh August
